Like several churches in the municipality, San Pedro de Burgueira was donated in 1137 to the Mosteiro de Oia, which indicates the presence in this place of an old Romanesque church, but the good building that we see today must have hidden the vestiges of Burgueira's medieval past. The present church was completed in 1808, in the middle of the War of Independence. It is a church with a central bell tower, and its façade bears the year of construction and the keys of San Pedro, in honour of its patron saint. The figures we see on the façade are San Xoán Bautista, San Pedro and the Virgin of the Rosary. Inside, the barrel vault dominates the entire church. In the rectory house, its defensive towers stand out. It was even built with a defensive moat and the friars of the monastery of Oia lived there.
