The history of the church is closely linked to the monastery of Oia. In 1137 the church was donated by Alfonso VII to the monastery and twelve years later the whole village of Pedornes was donated. Two hundred years later, when it belonged once again to the Bishopric of Tui, it served as an exchange between the diocese and the monastery, which in exchange gave the parishes of Estás, Forcadela and two others in Portugal. Although it belonged to the monastery, this church served as a parish church, as Oia was not considered a parish until 1841, when it was constituted by Bishop Francisco García Casarrubios y Melgar, who later, in the same year, constituted it as a completely independent parish. There are no remains of the primitive temple, although from the traces, it could occupy the current nave, where we can find a magnificent coat of arms of the monastery under a legend that recalls the year 1736, the date on which it was restored. Inside we can admire interesting altarpieces and in the atrium there is a group of crosses that belonged to an old Way of the Cross.
