OUTEIRO DOS MOROUZOS PETROGLYPHS

Discover ancient rock engravings of horses and human figures, dating from 2000 to 4000 years ago, possibly depicting horse riding scenes.
Around this group of small hills there are several rocky surfaces with petroglyphs, among which this panel with representations of animals stands out. Most of them can be identified as horses, as you can see in the drawing. This and the other groups of petroglyphs in the area (essentially with abstract motifs) date from 4000 to 2000 BC.
In addition to the equid representations, this panel is notable for the presence of several anthropomorphic figures, which seem to interact with the horses, in what could be interpreted as a riding and/or domestication scene.
