Cabo Silleiro is a place as magical as it is beautiful. An impressive viewpoint overlooking the Atlantic, it offers breathtaking views of the outer face of the Cíes Islands, a place with steep cliffs and an important refuge for fauna and flora.
At Cabo Silleiro there is an elongated silhouette over 19 metres high: a lighthouse that has been illuminating sailors since 1924. In the vicinity there was an earlier building than the current one, since the concern about possible shipwrecks on this dangerous stretch of coast is something that goes back a long way. In fact, there are many place names such as "faro" (lighthouse) or "antorcha" (torch), which refer to the lights that were lit to illuminate the coastline.
